A T-handle that spins without catching, a key that fights you every morning, a slide bolt rusted half shut. Garage door lock repair is what we do about it, and most jobs are sorted in a single visit.
We are the only local shop that is both a garage door dealer and a full locksmith, so the lock we fit actually matches the door it sits in. Call us at (267) 923-5759, or contact us for a free estimate and we will tell you what we see.

A key snapped off in the lock does not mean a new lock. In most cases we extract the broken piece and cut a fresh key, so you are back in without replacing good hardware.
Locked out of the garage itself, not the house? Try opening it yourself first, it often takes less time than waiting on a callback. If that doesn’t work, we use non-destructive entry whenever we can, open the lock, and then sort out why it happened so it does not repeat. Call first for this one, it is faster than the form.
Usually because the lock is fine and the door has moved. A door that has settled on its track, worn rollers, or a strike plate that has shifted a quarter inch will all stop a perfectly good lock from latching, and no new lock will fix any of them. So we check the door before we touch the hardware. If the trouble is the door, that is garage door repair, and we will say so instead of selling you a lock you do not need. If the door will not move at all, start with garage door won’t open.
The other half of it is matching. A lock has to suit the panel thickness, the latch point, and the way you actually use the garage. Brand and model matter too, since the hardware on a Clopay steel door is not the hardware on a 1970s aluminum roll-up. When the same people know the lock and the door, you get a repair that holds instead of a part that almost fits.

The only local shop that is both a garage door dealer and a full locksmith, so your lock and your door are solved by the same people, in Pennsburg since 2011:
When you call us, you’ll talk to a real person, usually the same person who’ll show up at your door.

Bob McCarty Jr. brings 25+ years of specialized door expertise to every job. Eleven of those were as head installer with a regional leader, before he started Valley Lock & Door in 2011 because customers kept asking for his level of service on their own. He runs every lock job by the same rule: fix it with the least invasive method that holds. You keep the hardware that is worth keeping, and you are not paying for parts you do not need.
Here is what to expect on a visit. We look at the condition of the lock and the door together, find the actual problem, and show you what we found before any work starts. Pricing is confirmed on-site before work begins. Every time.
Usually repaired. When the lock is just dirty, stiff or slightly out of line, a clean, the right lubricant and a strike-plate adjustment bring it back. A T-handle repair before a full lock kit, a cylinder swap before a whole new lock. Replacement is the honest call when the cylinder is worn through, the rods are bent, or rust damage has gone deep into the mechanism. Either way you hear which one you are looking at first.
Moisture, and it is the most common issue we get called for once the cold sets in. Rain and humidity work into the cylinder through the year, the pins corrode, and on a freezing night any water left inside seizes the whole thing. Then the key gets forced and snaps. If your lock is stiff, use graphite or a de-icer, never force it, and never use an oil like WD-40, which attracts grit and leaves you worse off by spring.
Twice-a-year maintenance is the cheapest lock repair there is. A little graphite in the cylinder before winter and a quick check that the door is still sitting square on its track heads off most of it. We do it as part of a full garage door tune-up, or you can do it yourself in ten minutes.

Our shop is in Pennsburg, PA. We serve seven counties across Eastern Pennsylvania:
In most cases, yes. We carry extraction tools and can usually pull the broken piece and cut you a fresh key without replacing the lock. Forcing it yourself tends to push the fragment deeper, so it is worth leaving alone until we get there.
Yes. Steel, wood, aluminum, roll-up and sectional, any brand or model. We are an authorized Clopay dealer, so we stock that hardware, and we carry common T-handles, cylinders and lock kits for everything else. If we need a part specific to your door, we will tell you on the visit.
Often, yes, depending on the hardware. Rekeying is usually the better move when you have just bought the house or lost a key, and it keeps the lock you already have. Our page on rekeying versus lock replacement walks through when each one makes sense.
